If you didn’t know already: IE does not display this site correctly, due to web standards. Most importantly IE is susceptible to viruses, and spyware; due to Microsoft’s inability to patch it’s own browser in a timely manner. So I highly recommend, a safe, more standards compliant browser such as Mozilla Firefox.

Geek day!

Netgear RangeMax™ Wireless Access Point

Originally uploaded by elyliu.

Yes, I’ve had a geek day….

1. I bought a new WAP with SEVEN internal antennas.
2. I set up a network hard drive.
3. I took a picture of my new WAP with my camera phone. (for those that don’t know what a WAP is, it’s the thing that lets you surf the web wirelessly)
4. I emailed the picture to flickr.
5. And now I am blogging about my geeky day… :)

On a different topic, tonight we went out to celebrate Nancy’s big 3-O. Nancy, if you are reading this, HAPPY BIRTHDAY…again. :) We went to this place called Buddha’s Belly on Beverly. It’s quite delicious. Highly recommended! Then afterwards, we went to an ol’ skool bowling alley. It’s pretty cool as well, but I didn’t stay long. Why? Because I am going to Disneyland in the morning! Hmmm, I should be going to bed. Ok, bed time. Good night, ladies and gents. ELY, OOOOOUT!

WIRED!

Got to work before 9. On my third cup of coffee. WIRED!!! BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

New Shiatsu cushion…

New Shiatsu cushion for mom…

Originally uploaded by elyliu.

The Shiatsu cushion I ordered for my mom’s birthday came today. It’s pretty awsome! It does 3 types of massages: Shiatsu, rolling, and butt vibrating. I don’t really care for the butt vibrating massage, but the other 2 feel great. :)

I think this is going to end up being more of a present for myself. Now I don’t have to give my mom massages all the time. :)

What’s new…

February 26th, 2006

I haven’t really done one of these “What’s new” post in a while, so here it is! Here’s my weekend recap.

I have to start out by pointing out how disappointing the Lakers have been this weekend. Lakers started out this week great! They won 2 games in a row. Just when you thought they are finally gellin’ together, they lose 2 straight. ARG! I was at the game today. The game was exciting and fun, but too bad they lost. :(

I am proud of my 7 mile run this weekend. Some of my muscles feel…inflamed? I am not quite sure what it is. It’s not really soreness. It’s a bit painful, but a little massaging took care of it. It’s not an inflammation of a muscle. It’s coming from the tendon connecting my quads to the side of my knees. (Anybody know what that tendon is called?)

I should start swimming. I haven’t swam since the triathlon in September. I probably should start biking more as well.

I didn’t study as much as I wanted to this weekend. I just finished what I NEEDED to get done. I have another exam in my accounting class on Wednesday. I got all the necessary reading done. I just need to brush up on all the chapter a bit. The exam shouldn’t be too bad. It’s open book.

I got a hair cut. :) I probably cut off 1-1.5 inch off the top. It’s much shorter and cleaner now. I was getting tired of styling the longer hair.

What else… Let’s see… For those of you that don’t know, I am pursuing a software engineer position at ABC.com now. I am quite excited about that. One, I think it would be interesting to work on the website for popular TV shows. It would be a lot more exciting than working with websites for kiddy theme parks (what I currently do). Two, I think there are a lot of growth potential there. ABC.com is still a very small team (less than 10 people total I think). And our CEO, Bob Iger, seems to have a grand vision for ABC.com. Riding off the success of hit ABC shows, ABC.com would be a great place to be for the next couple years I think. Third, it would be great to work with my buddy, Ariff, again. I think he is a natural leader and will do very well in the future. I’ll just hang off his coattails for a while. ;) I hope everything works out…

Oh, and last but not least, according to StatCounter.com, it looks like I have a new returning visitor from Italy. I’d like to give a quick shout out to my new Italian fan! That’s all for tonight…CIAU!

100

February 23rd, 2006

This is my 100th blog post. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! It’s been fun blogging. And I hope it’s been entertaining for the 2 loyal visitors I have out there as well. :)

Today will be no-laziness day!

February 11th, 2006

I think I’ve been lazy lately. I’ve slacked off on a lot of things. I’ve blogged less. I’ve flickr-ed less. I’ve studied less. And I’ve worked out less. Where does all my time go you might ask? I blame the wonderful TV programming these days! There are just too many good shows on TV and DVD. Sigh…too much good TV, too little time.

Today will not be one of those LAZY DAYS! I think I’ve started off today strong. This is my third blog entry of the day and it’s barely noon. I’ve already ran 4.75 miles too!

Plans for the rest of the day…

  • finish reading the chapters for my accounting class
  • do my accounting homework
  • study for he GMAT a bit…
  • go get new bike shorts (my old ones ripped last weekend)
  • and catch the Lakers game at 7:30

Hopfully I get all of those things done today. GO ME!

Tonight is a good night…

February 1st, 2006

I think I kicked ass on my exam tonight and my car is feeling great after the tune-up!  WOOO

Time for an episode of 24 and then some sleep.  I want to wake up and run tomorrow morning!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Chill Out, Buster

Originally uploaded by Fintan.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of another Chinese/Lunar year. This year will be the year of the dog (check out the cool dog picture I found on flickr!).

This morning me and my parents had an online conference with my relatives in Taiwan and China. First, we used MSN video conference, but we discovered that you can only have one video conference at a time. I guess Apple’s iChat AV superior in that it can do a 4 people video conference. We switched to Spype afterwards. The sound quality was pretty good and there were very few interruptions. I did not partake in the conversation long since I did not know what to talk about and my Chinese is getting less fluent :( . Not to mention, it was 6:30am! Nonetheless, it was still pretty awsome to virtually spend some time with my relatives from across the Pacific.

Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!

Homework…

January 24th, 2006

I just finished my first homework assignment that I’ve had in 2 and half years. And I have to say it actually feels pretty good. Check back on me in a few monthes. I will probably sing a different song then. ;)

O, and this morning I had a good drive to work. Actually, the best part was the end where I downshifted to 4th on the freeway and got up to XXXmph, made a couple lane changes, heel-toed several times as I take the exit ramp, apexed perfectly off the ramp in second, and blasted away with a couple clean upshifts. Hmmm, that was gooood :) Awsome way to start the day!

Tired…

January 12th, 2006

Having a 3 hour accounting class after work is tiring.

The UCLA FEMBA (Fully-employed MBA) info session I went to last night was very convincing. I better get used to going to class AND working at the same time.

Tired…Good night…
