site stats

If you didn’t know already: IE does not display this site correctly, due to web standards. Most importantly IE is susceptible to viruses, and spyware; due to Microsoft’s inability to patch it’s own browser in a timely manner. So I highly recommend, a safe, more standards compliant browser such as Mozilla Firefox.

Does Detroit hate America?

March 20th, 2006

Here’s an interesting article titled, “Does Detroit hate America?”

The article questions why American auto makers are consistantly rebadging european models and selling them as “American” cars. No wonder American auto makers are not doing well. They are selling cars that are tailored for Europeans, and not Americans.

I agree with the article. American cars have lost their distinctive style the past few decades. And it’s funny that the only company that is still making American flavored cars is Daimler Chrysler, a company that is half German.

BRING BACK THE AMERICAN MUSCLE CARS!

Firefox memory leak?…

March 20th, 2006

I left my computer on at work over the weekend and Firefox claimed over 600M of memory! EEEK!!!

Will IE 7 be better than Firefox?

Awsome business idea!

March 15th, 2006

What if there is a website that serves as a central picture database where…

  1. photographers can post their images for sale
  2. people can look for images to use

Photographers won’t have to have an employer give them an assignment. They can take pictures of whatever they want, whenever they want. They would definitely love the creative freedom.

Employers don’t have to wait for an photographer to go take pictures. They would have a huge collection of pictures to pick from.

…too bad I am WAY too late in the game. :( There are a few powerhouses in this field already, namely Getty Images and Corbis. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea though.

More interesting visitor stats…

March 11th, 2006

There was one visitor at 6am this morning that…

  • came through the Disney Seattle VPN
  • was linked from Charlie’s blog
  • clicked through 5 pages of my blog
  • then came back 30 minutes later through the link on my flickr
  • read the “about me” section”
  • looked through the video page
  • was running Mac OS X and Firefox 1.5

This sounds fishy… Who would go through the Disney VPN to browse the web? And who uses Mac OS X away from work? And it’s not someone who visits my site regularly, they would not read 5 pages of blog. Hmmm, fishy….

Cool new Samsung phones…

March 10th, 2006

They may look like just another cell phone, but one of them is a 10MP, 3x optical zoom camera phone, and the other one has a 8GB hard drive built-in.

You are going to hate me now because I am about to tell you something you don’t want to hear… Those phones are not available for US. :(

Read more about them on phonescope.com. 10 MP phone, 8 GB phone

Apartment for car guys…

March 10th, 2006

AutoBlog.com reported a new type of apartments (too bad it is not available here in the US): car loft. Basically, instead of having an elevator to take you to your floor, there’s an elevator to take you AND YOUR CAR to your floor. Then you just park on your balcony and walk into your apartment. Not only is it easy to bring things back and forth from the car, you get to stare at your car all day long… :)

And the F1 season starts again this weekend…WOOOO!!!! (Check out the new Red Bull cars! They look awsome)

Visitor stats…

March 4th, 2006

By combing through your visitor stats, you learn about your visitors. You learn…

  • where they are from?
  • what pages are they looking at?
  • and how did they get to my site?

Today, I learned I am the 3rd result on Google if you search “hummingbird genes”. :)

Slam Dunk Contest…

February 21st, 2006

I was going to post this video over the weekend, but Google Video sucks! It took Google 3 days to finally reject my video. I guess they didn’t want any copyrighted material on their site. Anyway, the slam dunk contest this past weekend was one of the best in recent years. IMO, this year is the best year since the year that Vince Carter won. So, without further ado, here’s the video that Google Video would not host.

UPDATE: Here’s a good article on why Google shouldn’t have rejected my video.

There are certainly logical reasons why NBC would want to nip such movements in the bud, despite the converse argument that content-sharing and the viral phenomenon add up to excellent free publicity. After all, the runaway success of “Lazy Sunday” had little to do with its original airing on SNL. But given YouTube’s growing popularity among the young audience that NBC surely covets, I’d have to say that for now, this seems like a rather shortsighted move. Much like the music recording industry’s often heavy-handed tactics, NBC’s decision to pull the plug might irritate the same customers it’s trying to attract.

Ouch…

February 20th, 2006

Check out this Lamborghini hitting a speed bump at high speed (toward the end of the video). OUCH! The video is taken from Autoblog.com.

Men’s products…

January 22nd, 2006

I was at WalGreens grabbing some stuff when I realized there was a whole section on the shelf for men’s products. I had no idea there are so many products catered specifically for men. I don’t recall ever seeing a product say “FOR WOMEN”. Why is that? Is it just implied that all the products that don’t specify gender are “FOR WOMEN”? Does that mean I’ve been using women’s shampoo all my life?!?!?
