site stats

If you didn’t know already: IE does not display this site correctly, due to web standards. Most importantly IE is susceptible to viruses, and spyware; due to Microsoft’s inability to patch it’s own browser in a timely manner. So I highly recommend, a safe, more standards compliant browser such as Mozilla Firefox.

7 miler!

Last 2 weeks, I did my long runs in the mornings. The problem with that is, due to over-training, I get cold-like symptoms for the rest of the day. Feeling crappy makes my day unproductive. Today, I switched it up. Instead of running in the morning, I ran at 4pm today. If I go any later, I’ll need headlights. ;) Anyway, here are the stats…

  • Total Time: 1h 28min 7s
  • Distance: 7.1 mi
  • Heart rate avg: 91% / 177 bpm
  • Heart rate max: 98% / 191 bpm
  • Calories (burned): 1354 Kcal
  • Speed avg: 4.8 mi/h
  • Speed max: 6.9 mi/h
  • Pace avg: 12min 30s/mi
  • Pace max: 8min 42s/mi

Not much improvement this week. My average heart rate went down 3 bpm, but I was also going 30s/mi slower than last week. Overall, I felt sluggish during the run today. My heart rate monitor actually told me to stay in the 100-130 range (normally 130-160 range). HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?!? Crazy heart rate monitor.

Oh, and Mike, I did try counting my cadence today. I was going about 150 step/min. Not quite the ideal 180.

Not much to “YAY” about today except for breaking the 7 mile mark. GO ME!

Awesome Ely! As for the cadence thing, I’m still learning and I find it’s pretty hard to hit 180 w/out expending more energy than bad-form long stride. So far, I seem to settle in around 168bpm (or around 13 right-heel strikes per 10 seconds). I’ve tried to find some music that’s at 180bpm but so far, things are just faster or slower. Any ideas?
