If you didn’t know already: IE does not display this site correctly, due to web standards. Most importantly IE is susceptible to viruses, and spyware; due to Microsoft’s inability to patch it’s own browser in a timely manner. So I highly recommend, a safe, more standards compliant browser such as Mozilla Firefox.

Shure e4c ROCKS!

December 13th, 2005

Don’t let the size fool you. These ear buds will put up a good fight with the best headphones out there.

UPDATE: After a week or two listening to the e4c, I am tempted to sell my Grado SR-325. The Shure’s sounds quality is right up there w/ the Grados. And the Shures are just so much more usable. It’s not an open can like the Grados, so you can listen to it without disturbing other people. Also the Shures are just so much more portable than the Grados.

Random thought from the past week…

View from Wek’s room…

Originally uploaded by elyliu.

I’ve had limited internet access the past week in Orlando, so here’s a collection of random thoughts that piled up in my brain…

1. I had no idea the entertainment system on Song is running Linux. SWEET!
2. Poor Arun missed his flight because of an accident on the 405. Delta stuck him on a non-direct flight that stopped at Cincinnati. He ended up getting to Orlando 4 hrs after us.
3. Boma is delicious.
4. Wek’s room had an awsome view of the Boardwalk (see pic on the right)
5. GPS RULES!
6. I suck at golfing.
7. Vans are slow.
8. Florida is flat.
9. Be careful when opening soda from vending machines.
10. We should have a DisneyQuest in California.
11. Orlando office needs wi-fi.
12. Bring a jacket when visiting Orlando in the winter.
13. Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort is delicious
14. Sex in The City is a great show.
15. Running is painful
16. This getting dark early thing SUCKS!
17. Henny’s new house is nice. Too bad it’s in the middle of nowhere.
18. I spend a lot of time on the internet
19. I need to get back to studying GMAT
20. NOW

Orlando frequent flyers…

You should check out flyclear.com. They pretty much let you skip the security check at the airport! MCO is their pilot program. They are trying to expand to other airports right now.

My first embedded video…

December 11th, 2005

I heard that there was a “The Making of” video for the 350z commerical that I posted about a few days back. I’ve been looking around the web for it and now I found it (on nissanusa.com of all places). So here it is without further ado (first embedded video on this site, BTW)…

To save this video locally, right click this LINK and choose “Save as”

There is also another cool 350z commerical called “The Run”. Check that out as well. All of the 350z owners get a DVD copy of “The Run.” It includes the full version of the commercial (15 minutes, I believe) and some “Making of” extras. One of these days I’ll rip that DVD and post it here.

Upcoming.org the next hit site?

December 10th, 2005

My schedule next week seems pretty eventful. So to make sure I don’t over-book myself, I went online to search for a good online calendar. Google did not give me a lot of good calendars. It just told me about the basic Yahoo calendar. Then I looked on del.icio.us. On del.icio.us, close to 2000 people bookmarked Upcoming.org, so I decided to check it out.

Although the UI still needs a bit of polishing, the idea that Upcoming presents is a very interesting one. It’s so interesting that Yahoo bought them and now they work right next to the flickr group. With Upcoming you can…

  • Use the site to keep track of your own events (what I am doing)
  • Share events with friends and family
  • Find out what events your friends are going to
  • Find interesting events in your area

The latter 3 probably will not be very useful until more people sign up for it. But with Yahoo backing them up, they’ll get to that point. I can’t wait! It’ll be the next flickr phenomenon. In the mean time, Upcoming is perfectly fine for keeping next week’s schedule ;)

UPDATE: Over 2000 people have bookmarked Upcoming on del.icio.us now…
