If you didn’t know already: IE does not display this site correctly, due to web standards. Most importantly IE is susceptible to viruses, and spyware; due to Microsoft’s inability to patch it’s own browser in a timely manner. So I highly recommend, a safe, more standards compliant browser such as Mozilla Firefox.

Lost on cellphones!

November 30th, 2005

“Lost Video Diaries is slated to premiere exclusively on the Verizon Wireless V CAST service in January. The original live-action content will consist of a minimum of 22 two-minute episodes.

Featuring characters who were on Oceanic Flight 815, but whose storylines have not been seen on Lost, Lost Video Diaries will chronicle compelling tales from the island inspired by events taking place on the broadcast series.

BVHE will also distribute the content as part of the Lost Season Two DVD boxed set, which will be the exclusive home to at least six of the episodes.”

ESPN Mobile!

November 27th, 2005

When I went to ESPN.com today, I saw an ad for ESPN Mobile! This is the perfect phone for all the sports nuts. You new can get the latest scores, highlight clips, and even change your fantasy lineup! It is a bit more pricy than your normal cell phone plans. It is $400 for the phone and $65/mo for the cheapest plan (450 minutes). Linky

Saturday…

…was fun. I caught 2 movies (and paid for none), RENT and Walk The Line. Both movies were good. I highly recommend RENT. It is probably one of the very few movies I’d watch it again while it is still in the movies. I am listening to the soundtrack as I type this blog entry right now! About the other movie, I’d have to be honest and say I’ve never heard of Johnny Cash before this movie. But after looking around the web a little bit, it looks like I am not the only one ;)

“I can’t believe that guy’s name is John Cash!”
“Yeah, I wish my name was Johnny Cash.”
“Just like Mortal Kombat.”
“What?”
“You know, they guy in Mortal Kombat.”
“That’s Johnny Cage”
“Oh. Who’s Johnny Cash?”

Later on last night, we hit up Privilege in Hollywood. It’s supposed to be the new hip place to be. It’s definitely a trendy crowd. Thanks, Henny, for getting me in. :) Privilege is also supposed to be the place that celebs like to hang out. Russel Crowe and Goldie Hawn was there? It was dark. I didn’t see them. The one celebrity I did spot was Rick Yune, also known as the asian guy that got slapped by his dad in “Fast and Furious.” (See picture above)

O ya, did I mention I walked by Ben Afflec last week? I am a celeb magnet!

Strategy…

November 20th, 2005

I am almost done with my “The Ten Day MBA” book. (I know, I know, I’ve been reading this book for like 2 monthes. I AM A SLOW READER, OK!!!) I just finished the chapter on strategy. MAN, that was the funnest chapter in the book! In short, it’s a chapter on how companies compete with each other. Here’s a snippet of the chapter…

In 1994, Quaker Oats bought Snapple to complement its Gatoratde sports drink. Quaker’s analysts thought that its powerful distribution system, shared manufacturing, and economies of scale could vault this New Age beverage to new heights of sales and profitability. However, Coke and Pepsi both aggressively entered the market with lowered priced Lipton and Nestea tea drinks. Coke’s Fruitopia brand attacked Snapple at the high end as well. By 1997, Snapples’s sales collapsed. To cut their losses Quaker took a $1.4 billion loss and sold the company.

It’s like watching a basketball game…
Kobe has the ball. The Bulls send a double team and forces a turnover. Bulls score…

Speaking of basketball, I should go watch the Lakers vs Bulls game I tivo-ed. GO LAKERS!

EDIT: Lakers lost another close game :(

Wouldn’t it be cool if…

…we can lookup songs by tags on our MP3 players? (well, we’d have to be able to tag songs in the first place…)

Ultramarathon Man…

November 16th, 2005

I just finished “Ultramarathon Man” by Dean Karnazes on the flight back from Orlando. Here’s a quote I really like…

“If you’re not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you’re not constantly demanding more from yourself — expanding and learning as you go — you’re choosing a numb existence. You’re denying yourself an extraordinary trip.”

Dean is extremely inspirational. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Orlando

November 10th, 2005

I am all set up to go to Orlando next week. I am flying Sunday morning :( and flying back Wednesday. I am looking forward to this trip. It’s been a while since my last Orlando trip. I am staying at the Polynesian resort (regular priced at $300+ a night!) and I’ll be able to sample the famous TONGA TOAST. WOOO! I’ll take pictures of it and let you guys know if it lives up to its fame.

I think the couple meetings I am out there for will be quite interesting and productive as well.

Not to mention I will be away from the NoHo office some more! I am enjoying the time away from the NoHo office…

GO LAKERS!

Some 4th quarter action…

Originally uploaded by elyliu.

Me and Joseph went to the Lakers game tonight vs. Denver. We got there an hour and a half before the game started because we over estimated the traffic. We thought we would be bored to death, but we were able to catch some of the players go through some shooting drills.

The game was good. I was hoping the Nuggets would put up a better fight since we just beat them IN DENVER 4 days ago. We played solid defense throughout the game. Kobe was scoring very efficiently. If we can keep doing this, we will go deep into the playoffs.

GO LAKERS!
